To understand who Horizon is today, it's important to start with the history of two different companies that would later merge to become Horizon Distributors, Inc.

In the early 1960s, the Hayes family founded Automatic Rain, an irrigation distributor based in Menlo Park, California. The Hayes family operated Automatic Rain for 38 years, constantly opening new stores while leading the Northern California markets with full-service locations, offering irrigation, lighting and landscape products.

In the mid 1970s, while working in the irrigation industry, David Lange founded Mesa Sprinkler, a wholesale irrigation supply company. In 1997, after 20 successful years of running Mesa Sprinkler, David Lange purchased Horizon Turf, which specialized in the sale and service of turf maintenance products and power equipment. This union of both turf equipment and irrigation under one roof was an innovation to the industry.

In January 1999, Automatic Rain and Horizon Turf merged under the name Horizon Distributors, Inc.. Horizon immediately flourished and now is one of the largest distributors of irrigation, equipment, outdoor living and landscape products in the United States.

In October of 2005, Horizon was acquired and became part of the Pool Corporation family of companies. Poolcorp is the largest distributor of swimming pool supplies and related products, with over 280 global sales centers, distributing more than 100,000 national brand and private label products to over 70,000 wholesale customers.

Now with more than 60 locations in 11 states, Horizon Distributors Inc. has built upon it's history and established itself as a leader within the Green Industry, prepared and ready to help customers become more profitable and successful.
