Bison Turf Equipment opened up shop in February 1988 and started as a small store on the west side of Transit Road, just south of Main Street. This location is where we first started our “Free Loaner” program, which still exists today. We learned early on that our clients couldn’t make money if their equipment was being repaired, and we wanted to help our fellow community members.
Today, we have expanded to include a full showroom, parts department, and repair shop at our 8,500 sq. ft. facility in Tonawanda, NY. Located just off of exit 15 from I-190, we’re conveniently located for just about anyone.
Buffalo Turbine was established in 1945 under the name Buffalo Agricultural Supply in Gowanda, NY, located about 25 miles south of the City of Buffalo. Buffalo Agricultural Supply manufactured a complete line of Sprayer / Dusters for the agricultural and vector abatement industries, all being centered on the turbine style fan design. Over the next 4 decades Buffalo Agricultural Supply sold thousands of units across the world as the overall effectiveness and results were unprecedented in those industries.
In the mid 80’s the company changed hands and with new ownership and a pure appreciation for the product, the focus became growth. Many changes came over the next 10 years but the turbine assembly remained the same as it has since 1945. In 1996 the focus and direction of the company, now under the name Buffalo Turbine, shifted into the golf and turf markets and the product focus became a revolutionary tow-behind debris blower.
The Original KB model took the golf industry by storm. Not only was the new technology an attention-getter but the amount of time and labor savings generated with the new design was substantial. Buffalo Turbine generates air up to 3x’s more efficiently than a traditional “paddle-wheel” style blower which meant that the Buffalo Turbine was able to complete larger tasks in a fraction of the time. Within a couple of years the Buffalo Turbine Debris Blowers became the “staple” in the golf and turf markets.
Since 1996 Buffalo Turbine has continued to improve on the original design while adding a full line of new products tailored to the various markets of debris management. Today the debris blowers can been found at racetracks, airports, poultry farms, golf courses, parks, dragstrips, road construction sites, fire line maintenance facilities, solar farms, military bases and anywhere else that debris becomes an issue.
In 2008, Buffalo Turbine launched the Monsoon Dust / Odor control product line. The Monsoon is a cost-effective, self-contained dust control system that is a fraction of the cost of other products in the industry. The Monsoon is quickly becoming the industry standard in self-contained suppression systems.

The company started in 1921 as a manufacturer of horse drawn road maintainers. The original York Power Stone Rake had the unique feature of a rake to finish off the road surface. It is this unique feature that has made the term York Rake synonymous with landscape rakes the world over -- after all: We invented it!
