True-Surface® by Turfline’s story is one of pure American will and opportunity. While working for a local Toro distributor, John Humphrey, CEO, realized golf course greens rolling is a logical agronomic practice that he could sell. In 1984 Humphrey went out on his own under the name of Turfline, Inc. as a turf distributor working out of his home while developing the idea for the world’s first vibratory greens roller that would attach directly to a triplex greens mower.
His hard work soon paid off, and was awarded the patent for the True-Surface® Vibratory Greens Rollers in 1992. That same year True-Surface® was used in preparation for the PGA tournament held at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, MO.

Since 1950, Tuckahoe Sand & Gravel has produced quality products for private, commercial, and publicly funded work throughout the tri-state area. Our mining operation is located in Cape May County, New Jersey, approximately 50 miles southeast of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This area is well known for its rich deposits of high quality sand and gravel.
In 1999, new owners updated Tuckahoe's overall working operation, ensuring their products consistently meet and exceed customer expectations. Contractors for state and federal work come to us for NJDOT, PENNDOT and NYDOT approved material.
New efficiency means lower overall costs to the company, which allows Tuckahoe to pass on more saving to the customer. Our Quality Control team oversees production from beginning to end, monitoring the quality of each customer’s order to ensure satisfaction.
After more than 65 years, the company is only now moving into its third phase of mining its pristine terrain. One thousand plus acres provides Tuckahoe the natural resources is needs to remain South Jersey's leading sand and gravel supplier for the next 30 years or more.
