Mauberret and Heidingsfelder started the company in the spring of 2006 to help with the city’s Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts. As people in south Louisiana rebuilt their homes and businesses, the co-owners recognized a business opportunity that would “make the city greener,” Heidingsfelder says.
Over the last six years, Delta Sod has partnered with Habitat for Humanity in projects such as the Musicians’ Village, Brad Pitt’s Make it Right foundation, and Build Now, a local nonprofit committed to building elevated, energy-efficient homes. Through its philanthropic efforts, Delta Sod provides convenient, quality lawns for homes and businesses throughout south Louisiana.
The company delivers and facilitates the installation of sod. Also called turf, sod is grass that has already been planted. It creates a lush, green lawn in a very short period of time. Sod takes root better than seed and is a more reliable, faster way to produce an attractive lawn. While seeding produces sparse coverage and requires more watering, sod provides instant gratification and can be installed any season of the year.

Completing all of these steps takes additional time and patience, but the result – the best golf course sod available – is well worth it.
Evergreen Turf was established in April of 1999 by Jeff Nettleton and Jimmy Fox as a small, friendly, locally owned and operated Arizona sod farm. The idea back then was to provide Arizona homeowners and landscape contractors with an elite, golf-quality product. Since then, Evergreen Turf has become the major sod provider not just for homeowners, and landscapers, but for Arizona’s demanding golf courses and sports facilities. With more new golf courses and renovation projects than we can count, and thousands of commercial parks and home lawns installed, Evergreen Turf has become the major, locally-owned sod farm in Arizona. How did such a young company rise so quickly gain the confidence of an entire industry? The answer lies in Evergreen’s extraordinary people and an overriding commitment to our customers. Nowhere can our neighbors in Arizona get better information on sod and turfgrass from friendlier, more knowledgeable people. We invite you to browse our website for the answers to your sod questions or to call if you don’t find what you are looking for. Better yet, stop by and see us at our convenient Chandler location.

For over 42 years, Green Carpet Sod has been supplying the Sheridan, Buffalo and Gillette area with quality Kentucky bluegrass sod.
Our sod is a hybrid of Kentucky bluegrass that we are consistently improving and making sure that it will grow in our climate.
The sod you purchase from us is a specially-selected hybrid that does well in our area. The rhizome root structure allows it to spread easily and repair itself as your lawn grows.
We offer our sod both in a wholesale and retail environment to supply a wide range of customers, and we offer delivery. We do ask that you keep in mind that there will be a pallet deposit charged for each sale.
When determining how much sod you need, keep in mind that we sell by the square foot. Our sod is a four-way blend. To calculate the area needed, it may be easier to break your lawn up into smaller units like squares, circles, or triangles. Rectangles should also be included as a way to break the lawn up into smaller units.

Pacific Sod was originated in Southern California as a family operated agriculture business offering only the highest level of quality and customer service. It remains very much a family owned and operated farming company to this day. The families of Richard and Beth Rogers – the owners of Pacific Sod – have been involved in Western agriculture and horticulture for over 100 years! Beth’s grandfather was a pioneer farmer, rancher, and oilman in Southern California starting the family farming tradition in 1886.
In 1951, Mrs. Rogers’s father purchased 8,000 acres on the Oxnard farming plain in Camarillo, California from the American Crystal Sugar Company. The family farmed sugar beets and then lima beans and various other row crops until 1968. At that time, 100 acres of farmland was designated for sod production, and Pacific Sod was born.
Over the years, sod production expanded into additional acreage at the Camarillo location. In 1982, Pacific Sod, then known as Pacific Green Sod, purchased Nunes Turfgrass. With their patented harvesting technology and fantastic reputation, Pacific Green-Nunes was now twice the size of the original company, and could now service both Northern and Southern California.
Pacific again saw the opportunity for growth and in 1988, acquired Cal-Turf. Cal-Turf was the pioneering sod producer in California, starting operations in 1958. The Cal-Turf merger was hugely successful and doubled the company size again. In fact several employees from both Nunes and Cal-Turf are still with Pacific Earth Resources today. While PER originally concentrated on sales to landscape contractors and commercial accounts, PER also sells direct to the public, and are happy to provide a wide range of services to the landscape industry as well as homeowners and Do-It-Yourself ‘ers.
Through innovation and research, PER has accomplished much in nearly a half-century of sod production. Continuing to develop new and better products has allowed PER to remain the industry leader for turfgrass. Today, our product line includes soil amendments, fertilizers and more. We have farms located throughout California, ensuring the freshest material possible delivered direct to your project.
Agriculture has been a prominent part of society, history and commerce for the Rogers family. And since there is something special about surrounding yourself with plant life, we are dedicated to bringing our clients the magic of a planted environment.
The beginnings of Patten Seed Company were started by Robert L. Patten, a school teacher, who opened a general store in Lakeland, GA, circa 1893. Located downtown, it sold seed and fertilizer and everything in between, from horse collars to caskets.
Mr. Patten’s only son, Lawson, continued with the store and many agricultural side projects, including a seed-cleaning plant that we still use today.
Lawson had three children, one of them a daughter who married Bill Roquemore. Bill, a WWII bomber pilot, became involved in the family’s business and was the entrepreneur, visionary, and people-person who built Patten Seed into the great family business it is today.
Bill’s son Jim follows in his footsteps, along with Ben Copeland Sr. and Ben Jr.
Today, Patten Seed is a privately held family and employee-owned business.
As a sod producer, Patten Seed positioned itself throughout the 1960’s to the present by constantly developing and testing new, high-quality turf varieties, embracing and innovating new technology, along with establishing production farms readily accessible to Southeastern cities to provide the freshest sod possible.
Patten Seed owns the Super-Sod® brand. We started using the brand in 1980, to market sod in the expanding urban markets. Super-Sod, one of the South’s largest producers of turfgrass sod and seed, sets the standard for the industry. Strategically-placed farms and outlets around the Southeast allows Super-Sod to provide superior, fresh sod to each customer. Our employees stand out as being industry professionals, who offer knowledge, experience, and a passion to serve. We deliver sod on-time, when we say we will.

Riverside Sod Farm provides sod for both commercial and residential customers with delivery anywhere in West Virginia or pick-up on site. Whether the job is large or small, you can enjoy the beauty of a fine lawn instantly, eliminating the long germination period and grow-in time of seeded lawns.
Charlie Price and Becky Morris, owners of Riverside Sod Farm recommend sod over seeding because a luscious green lawn takes time and preparation to accomplish and generally the amateur grower lacks the knowledge and inclination to provide these needs. Important factors include:
Soil testing to determine the pH factor
Addition of the appropriate nutrients
Proper use of fertilizers and soil amendments
Oversight during the initial growing period when the sprouts require a great deal of attention
Introduction of chemical pesticides to prevent weed infestation
Monitored watering periods
Once in place, sod will initiate rooting into the subsoil within seven days, much quicker than it typically takes seed to germinate.
Located along the Kanawha River between Winfield and Point Pleasant, West Virginia, Riverside Sod Farm grows quality sod the year round. It is owned and operated by Charlie Price and Becky Morris.
Charlie Price has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University and is a registered Landscape Architect in the State of West Virginia. He has over 30 years of turf experience. He developed a 50-100 acre sod farm in the early ’90s which operated until a new high school took the property. As a Golf Course Superintendent, he was involved in the care and maintenance of golf courses and all phases of golf course construction. As the owner of a hydro seeding company, he did mine reclamation, specializing in growing grasses on acidic soils, steep slopes, and under other adverse conditions. He also has experience with wetland mitigation, which includes plant selection, site analysis, planting, and consulting.
Becky Morris has a Bachelor of Science Degree and started working on a Master of Science Degree in Business from Marshall University. She has worked for a coal company, a landscape company, was a teacher in Fayette County, and is now learning the agronomics of sod production.

Savage Farms dates back to 1910, when John Ardziewicz came to Deerfield MA and purchased a small farm on Lower Road. The farm consisted of 25 acres, and with the help of his son John, the elder Ardziewicz raised tobacco, onions, carrots, corn and potatoes.
Young John made the decision sometime in the 1930s to change his surname to “Savage,” and became the first of three generations to have the John G. Savage name and also work the family farm in Deerfield. During these years, John purchased more land along Lower Road and the Deerfield River. He eventually focused primarily on raising tobacco and potatoes on the 300 acres the family now owned.
Massachusetts Trucking Company Free Quote
Tradition repeated itself when Savage’s eldest son, John G. Savage Jr., assisted his father on the farm as a young boy, preferring work over school. After graduating from Deerfield Academy and the University of New Hampshire in 1963, John Jr. added sod to the farm’s crops.
In 1969, John G. “Jay” Savage III was born into the family. Since graduating from Proctor Academy and Vermont Technical College’s agricultural program, Jay and his father John manage over 400 acres of potatoes, 200 acres of sod and 200 acres of rotational crops, as well as a trucking company.

Feagler Farms, Inc. was incorporated in 1975 as an irrigated 1500 acre farming and livestock operation raising a diverse rotation that included sugar beets, corn, edible beans, small gains, and alfalfa. In 1979, a neighbor (David and Jean Kellam) planted what was then an experimental new crop. this new crop was turf grass. We watched them develop and incerase acerage to 35 acres over time. In 1999 the Kellams decided to retire and wanted to find someone who would not only purchase their business, but take the torch and give this enterprise the TLC it deserved.
In 1999 Feagler Farms Inc, headed by Steve Feagler, decided to purchase the Kellam’s business to diversify the farm. Torrington Sod Farms was formed to be the specialty arm that produces and markest turf grass. One of the first orders of business was to join TPI (Turfgrass Producers International) in order to broaden our knowledge base and networking within the turf industry. Under of the direction of Mark Feagler (the next generation), Torrington Sod Farms has now expanded to 155 acres. TSF covers a wide geographical area and has installed soccer and baseball complexes as well as large commercial projects.

In 1957, Dow Huggett started his sod farm with a roll top desk & 30 acres. His farm was planted with mint prior to 1957.
At that time, Huggett Sod Farm, only had one type of sod, and this was harvested with a “Ryan” walk behind sod cutter. Dow & his crew of 6 (including his son Wallace) rolled the sod pieces, loaded the sod & also unloaded the sod, all by hand!
Utilizing a small stake truck, deliveries were made within a 100-mile radius of the farm located in Marlette, Michigan.
In 1961, Wallace Huggett took over the daily operations of the sod farm. Over the next 40 years, he expanded the farm to include (800 – 1000) acres and added a tree nursery on an additional 120 acres. The business was incorporated in 1966.
In 1982, Wallace Huggett extended his sod business to Texas. He opened Trinity Turf Nursery, in Pilot Point, Texas. Trinity Turf Nursery has approximately 800 acres in sod production of Bermuda Grass and Zoysia Grass. It has become an acknowledged quality leader in the Dallas/Fort Worth sod market.

Williams Lawn Seed is a Midwest regional wholesale lawn seed distributor serving 10 states. We distribute millions of pounds of turf seed every year
WLS specializes in quality lawn seed and turf care products. We offer certified & sod blends, small retail & bulk packaging, prompt delivery, and quality service. We serve athletic fields, sod producers, golf courses, retail stores, landscape contractors, and the professional lawn care industry.
Our founder, Garvin R. Williams (1913-2003) began in the lawn seed business by swinging a hand bluegrass stripper at the age of 17 years, and selling the seed at $0.04 per pound. In 1930 he became a bluegrass entrepreneur. During a 10 day summer harvesting period at Coffey, Missouri he purchased 20,000 pounds of hand-stripped seed that had been done by other men, women, and children. A hand-stripper that had been used, along with a write-up of that story, can be found at the National Agriculture Hall of Fame at Bonner Springs, Kansas.
Methods of seed gatherings gradually changed. The yields in harvest fields began to decrease in the four Midwestern states.
